One of the greatest human rights violations of our time

Every year, around 100,000 innocent babies in Australia lose their lives to abortion.

Proverbs 31:8-9a tells us to, “Speak up for people who cannot speak for themselves. Help people who are in trouble. Stand up for what you know is right”.

Unborn babies are some of the most vulnerable members of our society and we are called to speak up for them.

Young women experiencing an unexpected pregnancy are also very vulnerable. The decision to end a pregnancy is a devastating one, with far-reaching consequences for both the mother and of course, the unborn child.

We live in a world where convenience often takes precedence over the sanctity of human life, and it is up to us to push back against this culture of death. It is incumbent upon us to speak out on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves and defend the inherent value and dignity of every human being, regardless of their age or circumstance.

CURRENT CAMPAIGN

The Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022 is currently being discussed in our federal parliament.

Senators Matthew Canavan, Alex Antic and Ralph Babet have tabled the bill and the Community Affairs Legislation Committee is currently reviewing it. This bill responds to the fact that, every week in Australia, babies survive failed abortions and are left to die without medical assistance or even given pain relief. This is abhorrent. We would not treat our animal pets in this way!

Put simply, this bill affirms the fact that, according to natural understanding, as well as our universal commitment to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, a child who is born alive, even after a termination procedure, is a person and should be afforded the same care that any other child would be given that was born at the same gestational timeframe and clinical condition.

The committee is due to report back to the Senate by 01 July 2023.
