14. Euthanasia

Evidence shows that euthanasia puts some of society's most vulnerable people at risk.

A 2010 study published in the Canadian Medial Association Journal cites that in Belgium as many as 1 in 3 doctor assisted deaths are performed without an explicit request from the patient.

In 2002 the NSW Parliament voted against a bill that sought to legalise euthanasia. In 2010 moves were made to introduce a similar bill in the NSW Legislative Council.

Will your Party commit to keeping euthanasia illegal in NSW?

16. Abortion and the law

Abortion law in NSW currently offers some protection to those unborn children who may be exposed to medical malpractice or traumatic injury, as well as expressing community values in favour of life. Despite this, some argue that abortion should be decriminalised.

Will you commit to not introduce legislation to decriminalise abortion in NSW?

17. Abortion statistics

South Australian law requires the collection of abortion data relating to the stage of gestation at the time of termination, the reason for the abortion and demographic information on the woman who had the abortion.
